The Foundation’s Education Policy Interns, Karina Arango and Karissa Anderson, wrote an opinion piece featured in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch both online and in print about the growing problems of access to affordable education in Missouri. Both Karina and Karissa have spent two years researching Missouri’s education policies on the A+ program and Access Missouri. Through their work with The Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis, the Deaconess Foundation, and St. Louis Graduates, Karina and Karissa have found that lack of funding in Missouri’s education investments has increased the financial gap for low-income and DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) students to pay for higher education.
