Students seeking careers in critical care nursing have a new scholarship opportunity from Mid-America Transplant Services’ (MTS) charitable foundation and The Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis. The board of directors for MTS’ charitable foundation selected The Scholarship Foundation to administer a $40,000 award for eight renewable $5,000 scholarships for students in St. Louis pursuing critical care nursing degrees. In addition to receiving the $5,000 renewable scholarship, awarded students will have access to Mid-America Transplant Services collaborative network of community and educational partners to ensure recipients are prepared for postsecondary education.

Awarded students will also receive mentorship from licensed critical care nurses, and have direct access to career advice and opportunities provided by MTS.

Nursing students interested in applying to the scholarship opportunity for the 2015-2016 academic year must meet the following requirements:

  • Be permanent residents of the St. Louis metropolitan area pursuing nursing degrees (RN, BSN) at accredited, nonprofit schools
  • Complete an application for the Mid-America Transplant Services Scholarship AND The Scholarship Foundation Interest-Free Loan Application in Scholarship Central by April 15, 2015
  • Meet all qualifications of The Scholarship Foundation Interest-Free Loan

Recipients of the award can be students entering their freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior year of their nursing degree. Under-represented students, such as males and minorities, are encouraged to apply. Applications are online at Scholarship Central.
