Undocumented Students Now Eligible for In-State Tuition – UPDATED

UPDATE – This move was reversed in the final budget. To learn more, read Heartbreak: Chronology of a Cruel Week.

Missouri’s Conference Committee on Budget moved to strike language from the higher education budget that directs colleges to charge undocumented students the highest rate of tuition. This language has been inserted into the higher education budget for the last several years, despite many advocates’ efforts to have it removed and many questioning the legality of legislating through the budget.

Undocumented students across the state of Missouri worked tirelessly to gain in-state tuition and now that is a reality. The next step is to make colleges and universities aware of this change and assure that students are welcome on Missouri’s campuses at a fair and equitable tuition rate.
